The Kansas City Chiefs are expecting to get a big piece of their offensive puzzle back for a Thanksgiving Day clash with the Dallas Cowboys.
Running back Isiah Pacheco has been out since late October when he suffered a right knee injury against the Washington Commanders. On Tuesday, head coach Andy Reid revealed that the Chiefs are anticipating that Pacheco will play.
Just how much he will play seems to be up in the air, and it does sound like the former seventh-round pick (2022 NFL Draft) from Rutgers will be on a pitch count. Still, he will play.
"We'll get him in there," Reid said, according to Nate Taylor of ESPN. "How much? I can't tell you that right now. We'll see how it goes."
The Chiefs have leaned on Kareem Hunt in Pacheco's absence. He's rushed 116 times this season for 457 yards and seven touchdowns. He's coming off a game against the Indianapolis Colts in which he rushed 30 times for 104 yards and a touchdown.
That's not bad for a 30-year-old running back. Not bad at all.
Still, the Chiefs will be happy to get Pacheco back. He's only rushed 78 times this season for 329 yards and one touchdown, but he has been averaging 4.2 yards per carry.
The Cowboys are 5-5-1 and coming off a massive win over the Philadelphia Eagles. Dallas has one of the worst defenses in the NFL, allowing 377.5 yards per game on average. They are giving up 125.2 yards per game on the ground, so this is a great opportunity for the Chiefs to get Pacheco back and involved in the offense.
