There might not be a rookie playing better this season than Charlotte Hornets' No. 4 overall pick, Kon Knueppel.
Knueppel, a guard from Duke, has performed remarkably well in his rookie season, earning praise from both the media and his teammates. Knueppel definitely has the attention of NBA legend Reggie Miller, who posed a bold question Tuesday on "The Dan Patrick Show."
While speaking to Patrick on Tuesday, Miller claimed Knueppel was going to win Rookie of the Year, while also posing an extremely bold question.
"Dare I say this, is Stephen Curry going to be a little nervous in about 15 years?" Miller asked. "Just go back and look at Steph's first two or three years in terms of three-pointers made and what Kon has done this year."
We did exactly what Miller instructed and compared Curry and Knueppel during their first season. With a steady pace for the rest of the season, Knueppel would end up with 304 three-pointers made.
For context, Curry only hit 372 three-pointers in his first three NBA seasons.
If Knueppel can stay healthy and demonstrate the longevity that Curry has shown over his 17-year career, there's a chance that Knueppel can catch up to him.
Those are lofty expectations, especially for a 22-year-old rookie still trying to prove himself in the league. It'll be interesting to look back on this conversation in 7-10 years and see how Knueppel is doing.
