The Tennessee Titans failed to score a touchdown in their game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, and rookie quarterback Cam Ward believes his head coach should have given him at least one more opportunity to do so.
Ward and Tennessee's offense had an abysmal day in their 25-3 loss to the Jaguars at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. The Titans got on the board first with a field goal on their opening drive, but Ward disagreed with interim head coach Mike McCoy's decision to settle for three points.
The Titans had 4th-and-3 at the Jacksonville 10-yard line when McCoy sent kicker Joey Slye out for a chip shot to give Tennessee a 3-0 lead. McCoy likely wanted to make sure his team came away with points following a strong opening drive. Ward would have preferred to be more aggressive.
After the game, a reporter asked Ward if the No. 1 overall pick wanted to go for it on 4th-and-3. Ward made his opinion very clear.
"Yeah, we need to go for it, I believe," Ward said. "What do we have to lose?"
Ward was then asked if he communicated his opinion to McCoy. He said everyone knows how he feels about situations like that.
"I tell everybody, really, all the time. He knows my mindset as a quarterback. I want to go for it every chance, especially now with what our record displays," Ward added. "We've got to continue to be an aggressive team."

The Titans fell to 1-11 with their loss to the Jaguars. They may wind up with the first overall pick in the NFL Draft for the second consecutive year, which is a product of how poorly things have gone for them in Ward's first season.
Ward has just seven touchdown passes in 12 games this season. He has thrown for fewer than 200 yards in three of his last four games. The former Miami star completed 24-of-38 passes for 141 yards on Sunday.
McCoy, who was an offensive assistant before being named interim head coach in Tennessee, is trying to help develop Ward. His rationale for taking the points early on Sunday made sense, but Ward is right that the Titans have nothing to lose. They should be aggressive every chance they get over the final five games of the season.
