James Franklin has picked up a few massive recruiting wins early on in his tenure at Virginia Tech, but he has suffered one loss in the days leading up to the early signing period.
Adrian "Ace" Hamilton is a three-star offensive lineman from Washington, D.C. He had been committed to Virginia Tech since the summer and even remained committed when former HC Brent Pry was fired and Franklin was ultimately hired.
The Michigan Wolverines offered Hamilton in October, though, and they were able to get him onto campus for an official visit this past weekend to take in "the game" between Michigan and Ohio State.
That experience, being at The Big House, swayed Hamilton in all the right ways.
“It is like a dream coming true,” Hamilton told Rivals. “Michigan was my dream school. On my official visit, when I was on the field before the game, I just felt it. Then I watched the game, saw what the atmosphere was like, spent time with Coach [Grant] Newsome after the game and I knew I wanted to be at Michigan.”
From St. John's College High School, Hamilton checks in at nearly 6-foot-3 and 290 pounds and is ranked as the No. 55 interior offensive lineman in the 2026 class.

Hamilton mentioned that the visit to Michigan was everything he thought it would be, and it actually exceeded all of his expectations.
The size of the crowd, the atmosphere. It all called to him. In fact, he was imagining himself out there on the field as the game went on.
“During the game, I was daydreaming about it. Seeing myself on the field … being a Wolverine. It was awesome taking it all in," he said. “I’m still processing everything and how I’m going to Michigan. It will hit me in the next day or two and I’ll probably get emotional about it.”
With the flip, Michigan and head coach Sherrone Moore now have 27 2026 commitments in a class that's ranked No. 11 nationally.
