Nick Sirianni makes big Kevin Patullo decision amid criticisms from Eagles fans

As Zach Berman of The Athletic noted, upset Philadelphia Eagles fans chanted for the club to fire offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo during the 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears that dropped the Eagles to 8-4 on Nov. 28.

While speaking with reporters on Monday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni confirmed that Patullo will remain the team's offensive play-caller heading into its "Monday Night Football" game at the Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) on Dec. 8.

Nick Sirianni wants to get things "fixed" with Kevin Patullo

"Everything was being evaluated," Sirianni said about that decision, per Jeff Neiburg of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "We’ll think about some different things that we want to do, all over the place, scheme, everything. I don’t think it benefits us for me to share, in particular, what that is. Just know this: We want to get this thing fixed more than everybody. We live it, breathe it, and [are] involved in it every waking second of our lives. So that’s what we’re working on right now."

Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown openly spoke about his frustrations regarding the team's offense on multiple occasions before the Black Friday home loss to the Bears. Additionally, reports shared that some Eagles players had allegedly grown annoyed over the fact that quarterback Jalen Hurts has developed a reputation for playing "his game" instead of "the game the coaches want him to play."

According to ESPN stats, the Eagles ended Week 13 ranked 24th in the NFL with an average of 304.8 total offensive yards gained per game, 23rd with 196.3 passing yards per game, 22nd with 108.5 rushing yards per contest and 19th with 22.5 points scored per game.

Nick Sirianni not worried about 2023 repeat

During the 2023 campaign, the Eagles went from 10-1 to 11-6 before they suffered a blowout wild-card playoff loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Last season, the Eagles came together during their Week 5 bye to spark a run that ended with Philadelphia winning Super Bowl LIX.

"I think you saw a lot of the lessons we learned in ’23 resulted in what happened last year," Sirianni added on Monday. "You always take lessons in everything. Sometimes that sting of the loss has even more impact, which is why I’m grateful for adversity and looking for an opportunity to get better from the adversity. Most definitely, those have lasting lessons."

As of Tuesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Eagles as 2.5-point favorites for the matchup versus the Chargers.
