There's some scuttlebutt among fans that the Cleveland Browns should consider moving on from general manager Andrew Berry and head coach Kevin Stefanski. Their 3-9 record, ailing and aging roster and quarterback controversies are just some of the reasons that have fans wanting something new.
Yet, shaking up the entire organization at this point just doesn't make a lot of sense. It seems like an easy fix to just move on to a new front office and coaching staff, but with that much turnover, almost always, you have guys who want their guys. Their players. Their systems. A one-year turnaround just isn't likely if that happens. It may seem like the move to make but the Browns are not so far away from winning with the crew they have.
If given a chance, it's very likely that the team could turn things around in 2026. Here are three reasons the team should exercise patience and retain Berry and Stefanski.
Every year, there are a bunch of teams looking for new head coaches, and most of those spots are usually looking for yet another new coach in a matter of years. Replacing a coach seems like the way to go, but we all see teams struggle for years to find a guy who can get the job done. Stefanski has proven he can. He's taken a team with one playoff appearance in 21 years to the playoffs twice now in five seasons. Not only that, but he's a league-wide approved coach, having won the Coach of the Year Award twice. Finding a coach with his credentials and his ability to get the most out of his guys isn't as easy as some wish it was.
Many have called for Berry's job over the years. At times, justifiably so. While his tenure has been wildly inconsistent at best, Berry nailed the 2025 NFL Draft. Mason Graham and Carson Schwesinger are anchors on the defense, with the latter the frontrunner to take home the Defensive Rookie of the Year. Couple them with Harold Fanning Jr. and Quinshon Judkins, and it's easy to see why this draft class has so many people excited about the future. What else can Berry do in 2026? Only one way to find out.
There have been three big issues that the Browns have had to deal with since 2022. First, Deshaun Watson's play. Second, Watson's contract. Third, the draft capital given up in the Watson trade that brought the embattled quarterback to Cleveland.
In 2026, all of that can be a thing of the past. The Browns are already loaded on draft picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. They have struggled in 2025 due to a lack of depth and an aging offense. Being able to sign new players and draft younger players will only allow the Browns to bolster their weak spots.
