A mistake-laden "Monday Night Football" game ended when the Los Angeles Chargers intercepted Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts for a fourth time, securing a 22-19 overtime victory.
Shortly after the Eagles fell to 8-5, Hurts accepted responsibility for the miscues he made at SoFi Stadium.
"I didn't play well enough," Hurts acknowledged after the loss, per Tim McManus of ESPN. "Too many turnovers. Lots of opportunities, especially when we get on the other side of the 50, and I wasn't able to get us in the box."
Hurts was responsible for five total giveaways, two of which occurred on one play in the contest's second quarter. Meanwhile, Philadelphia's third straight loss won't do much to silence takes suggesting the club is experiencing a repeat of its 2023 collapse.
"It definitely stings," Hurts said about his performance versus the Chargers. "But how do you respond? That's the only way I know how to look at it. You're going to see what type of resolve does this team have ... what's in us to respond the way we want to. We've just got to dig."
Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown hasn't been shy about voicing his frustrations regarding the club's offense throughout the campaign. On Monday, he dropped the first ball thrown his way and a potential game-winning touchdown late in regulation. Earlier in the fourth quarter, a pass that deflected off Brown's hands led to an interception.
"That one hurt," Brown said about his drop in the end zone, per Cayden Steele of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "I’m more than capable of making those plays, and Jalen trusts me in any situation. I made some plays, but I wasn’t great when it mattered."
The good news for Brown and Co. is that the Eagles will head into Week 15 holding a lead over the 6-6-1 Dallas Cowboys in the battle for the NFC East division title. Philadelphia should have a get-right spot coming up on its schedule, as the defending Super Bowl champions will host the lowly Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) this coming Sunday.
Brown wasn't thinking about such things when he admitted that Monday was the worst he had felt after a loss this season.
"It’s going to be flushed because you have to," Brown added about getting past what occurred against the Chargers. "It’s a part of the game. It’s a part of playing at a high level. I’m catching 500 balls a day. I pride myself on making the catch. I gotta go back to work. That’s just what it is."
As of Tuesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Eagles as massive 12.5-point favorites over the Raiders.
