Analyst believes Brady Tkachuk will have eyes on the Philadelphia Flyers

Brady Tkachuk is an Ottawa Senator, and there’s no reason to believe that will change anytime soon. That being said, the Scottsdale, Arizona, native is a proud American, and the heart and soul of USA hockey. So being on the back half of his contract, it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise to hear speculation and rumors about his departure from time to time.

Unless the Senators, who are 14th in the Eastern Conference, struggle the rest of the season and potentially into next year, the talk will be relatively quiet. However, if that worst-case scenario comes to light, it could get loud and resemble the current Quinn Hughes situation.

There’s still a major if attached to that scenario, but analyst Colby Cohen recently said he’s heard that if Tkachuk ever does leave Ottawa, he would strongly consider joining the Philadelphia Flyers.

Cohen said:

“People get all frustrated every time this comes up. The Flyers will be a team, when the day comes when Brady Tkachuk has opportunities to go places, the Flyers will be a team that he will seriously look at, OK, when that day comes… My understanding is is he spends a good amount of time somewhere around the Jersey Shore in the summer due to new family connections for him.”

The 26-year-old is in the fifth season of the seven-year, $57,564,958 contract extension he signed with the Senators back in 2021, eligible to hit free agency after the 2027-28 season.

Will Brady Tkachuk stay in Ottawa long-term?

This really shouldn’t be a question or concern for Senators fans right now, but there could come a time when it does reach that point.

Tkachuk has consistently reaffirmed his love for Ottawa and his desire to win a Stanley Cup for the team, the city and the core group he’s played with throughout his career.

That being said, if come the 2027-28 season, the Senators have yet to take another step and win a playoff series, then real questions will have to be asked, and more of these rumors will arise.

We’re still pretty far away from that even possibly coming to fruition, but it’s something to keep in mind as we move along, as much as Ottawa fans hate having to talk about it.
