Another team could join Knicks in pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be the hottest commodity in the NBA this season.

The former Finals MVP is reportedly mulling his future with the Milwaukee Bucks, and ESPN insider Brian Windhorst reported that he wants to play for the New York Knicks.

The Knicks are one of the few teams that could legitimately make a run at him, as they have the assets and players to match his salary.

Nevertheless, they're not going to be alone in their pursuit of the superstar, who, according to NBA insider Howard Beck, also has the Miami Heat in his short list of preferred destinations.

The Miami Heat could land Giannis Antetokounmpo

"In doing the Giannis story and talking to people around the league, after New York, Miami was suggested to me as a place Giannis would really love to land if it’s not New York," Beck said during an appearance on "The Zach Lowe Show," per Sports Illustrated's Madison Williams. "Where Giannis wants to go is only one piece of this and it’s not going to be determinative necessarily, it still comes down to what the Bucks can get from their trade partner. ... It would not surprise me if the Heat found a way."

That being said, Antetokounmpo doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract, so the team can ultimately send him to the highest bidder. The Bucks will reportedly try to do right by him, and Antetokounmpo has reached out to his teammates to urge them not to be distracted by the outside noise.

He has reportedly committed to the team for this season at the very least. Still, other teams will be very aggressive in their pursuit of him once the unofficial trade season begins on Dec. 15, when most players become trade-eligible.

With the Bucks sliding in the standings and Antetokounmpo being out with a calf injury, he may have already played his final game for the organization.
