Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has had plenty of reasons to frown this season.
In a 31-27 Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, he suffered turf toe in his left foot, forcing him to miss nine games. Burrow has since returned to the lineup but failed to save the Bengals' playoff hopes. On Sunday, the Baltimore Ravens dismantled Cincinnati, 24-0, at home, eliminating the team from playoff contention for a third straight season.
Another losing season certainly won't make playing football fun for Burrow, who recently questioned why he's still doing it if he no longer enjoys it. Following the loss to Baltimore, he once again implied that he has lost his love for the game.
"My comments had nothing to do with Cincinnati," Burrow told the media. "My comments had to do with me, my mindset and football."

Many speculated Burrow's original comments suggested he may request a trade this offseason. But the sixth-year passer seemed to be expressing how he no longer relishes playing football the way he did earlier in his career.
"If I want to keep doing this, I have to have fun doing it," he told the media on Wednesday. "I've been through a lot, and if it's not fun, then what am I doing it for? So, that's the mindset I'm trying to bring to the table."
The Athletic's Dianna Russini reported Burrow hasn't requested a trade or indicated he plans to retire this offseason. However, he may be growing tired of carrying a team that refuses to make changes, despite being a perennial underachiever.
Since the Bengals took Burrow with the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the QB has won Comeback Player of the Year twice and earned two Pro Bowl nods. Despite his excellence, Cincinnati has only made two playoff appearances during this span.
That may be wearing on Burrow, who flopped against the Ravens. Against Baltimore, he completed 25-of-39 passes for 225 yards and tossed two interceptions, posting a season-low 58.2 passer rating. The QB took blame for his poor play, calling it one of the worst games "that [he has] played."

"Bad football teams do losing things, and if you want to compete for championships and be in the playoffs, then No. 1, your quarterback better play better than I did today," he said.
Losing and injuries have clearly taken a toll on Burrow. And it's left the QB wondering what the point of continuing to play is when there's little gratification for him.
