QB Cam Ward wants to be closely involved in Titans' head-coaching search

Cam Ward clearly feels he should have a say in the future of the Tennessee Titans.

He has a point, too. The Titans selected him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and they believe he can be the face of the franchise. His rookie season has been rough, so much so that his first head coach, Brian Callahan, was fired after a 1-5 start, but that shouldn't take away from Ward's potential for the Titans.

He just doesn't have the right pieces around him to be successful as a  quarterback in the NFL. Throw in the coaching turmoil, and it makes sense that it's really been a roller-coaster first season for the former Miami Hurricanes' Heisman Trophy contender.

Ward believes he's the future in Tennessee, so it makes sense that he wants to be involved in the process of finding the franchise's next head coach.

"I want to meet all of them," Ward said of the candidates for the position, according to Turron Davenport of ESPN. "Every coach who gets the opportunity to come here, I want to have conversations throughout the process with them. I'm going to be here for that whole time."

Tennessee Titans looking to the future with Cam Ward

Tennessee is 2-12 and fourth in the AFC South. The Titans have lost eight of their last nine games, and with three games remaining — against the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars — there is a realistic chance the Titans finish 2-15.

They could wind up with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft, which would give them a chance to get Ward more help. Without a doubt, they'll at least have a very high pick.

That's hope for the future in Tennessee, but it all hinges on who ends up being the coach.

Some names that could be considered would be Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula, Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady and Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, among others.

According to the ESPN report, the Titans most value a coach with strong leadership and identity-building skills.
