Delaware caps first year at FBS level with bowl win over Louisiana

Delaware (7-6) capped its first season of college football at the FBS level with a bowl win and a winning record.

The Blue Hens topped Louisiana (6-7) 20-13 in the 68 Ventures Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, on Wednesday, earning their seventh win of 2025 after a heart-stopping defensive stand in the red zone on Louisiana's final possession.

The Ragin' Cajuns trailed by 17 in the third quarter before clawing their way back into the game and driving down the field on their final offensive possession, but Delaware's defense stood tall to close out one of the biggest wins in school history.

Louisiana QB Lunch Winfield's pass on the final play of the game fell incomplete as time expired.

Delaware QB Nick Minicucci threw for 176 yards and a touchdown in the win, while Jo Silver ran for 116 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries. Sean Wilson hauled in the TD pass from Minicucci, catching eight passes for 81 yards in the victory.

How Delaware got to this moment

Delaware moved up to the FBS level in 2025 as a member of Conference USA. The Blue Hens won their season-opener against Delaware State before earning their first FBS win of the year over UConn on Sept. 13 in an OT thriller. One week later, Delaware earned its first CUSA win with a 38-16 stomping of Florida International.

The Blue Hens have plenty of momentum going into their second year of FBS competition and 2026, and it's clear that they aren't a pushover.
