Eagles players send warnings to NFL about offense after blowout win over Raiders

Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and his offense had come under fire after that unit produced lackluster results throughout the season.

However, such chatter quieted down after the Eagles improved to 9-5 via a dominant 31-0 Week 15 win over the lowly Las Vegas Raiders. While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Eagles players suggested that what happened on Dec. 14 could be a sign of things to come.

Is Eagles offense now "trending upward?"

"It’s trending upward," Eagles right tackle Fred Johnson said about Philadelphia's offense, per Cayden Steele of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. "Calling more and more runs. Executing better. It’s an uphill battle of trying to execute and deliver and stay the course, honestly. I feel like we’re getting closer and closer to being where we want to be as an offense."

Against the Raiders, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts completed 12-of-15 pass attempts for 175 yards and three touchdowns. As a team, Philadelphia accumulated 183 rushing yards.

"We’re kind of getting back to our identity a little bit, popping some runs, being able to run the ball a little bit and creating explosives down the field (in the passing game)," Eagles wide receiver Jahan Dotson explained.

Kevin Patullo has support from Eagles players

On paper, the Eagles offense should have another opportunity to build momentum when Philadelphia plays at the 4-10 Washington Commanders this coming Saturday. The Commanders are eliminated from postseason contention and have shut down starting quarterback Jayden Daniels for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, the Eagles would claim the division title by notching a victory at Northwest Stadium.

As for Patullo, it sounds like he remains a popular figure inside the locker room after pockets of Philadelphia fans previously called for his dismissal.

"A lot of the shade he’s gotten this year is kind of uncalled for, honestly," Eagles tight end Grant Calcaterra said about the OC. "None of us are perfect. We all make mistakes. But there’s a lot of times where he puts us in the perfect call, and it’s up to us to execute."

As of Thursday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Eagles as 6.5-point road favorites against the Commanders.
