Tristan Jarry placed on injured reserve as Oilers' goalie problems continue

The injury comes not even a week after the Oilers acquired Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for Stuart Skinner, Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick. Jarry’s injury concerns were one of a few doubts about this trade when it happened, and those fears have come to fruition after only a few games.

Jarry has had a bounce-back season this year with an 12-3-1 record, a .906 save percentage, one shutout and 4.67 5v5 goals saved above expected. He has a 3-0-0 record, an .887 SV% and 0.71 5v5 GSAx in his first three games as an Oiler.

The Oilers have recalled Ingram from the AHL to replace Jarry in the lineup. With Jarry guaranteed to miss the next three games, including the back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday, he should get at least one start. How the Oilers will deploy Ingram and Pickard beyond that is not known at this point, as Pickard’s struggles this season doesn’t make him the default starter.

However, Ingram has also struggled this season in the AHL, as he has a 4-5-2 record and an .856 SV% in 11 games.

The Oilers have also placed Jack Roslovic on long-term injured reserve, as it temporarily takes his $1.5 million cap hit off the Oilers books to accommodate for Ingram’s $1.15 million cap hit. Roslovic has missed the last 10 games with an undisclosed injury

The Oilers currently sit in third in the Pacific Division with a 17-12-6 record. They’ll look to build off of a stretch of four wins in five games when they visit Minnesota on Saturday at 1 p.m. MST.
