Throughout their careers, Kevin Harvick and Greg Biffle had many heated moments and great battles on the track. Today, The Closer honored The Biff with a heartfelt post on social media. The NASCAR community is still processing the horrific news.
Biffle, his wife Cristina, daughter Emma, and son Ryder were all on board the Cessna C550 when it crashed. Dennis Dutton and his son Jack, as well as Craig Wadsworth, were also on the aircraft and among the deceased.
Harvick famously had this confrontation with Biffle at Bristol in 2002. However, the two were seasoned drivers who cut their teeth in the same West Coast late model ranks. His words were touching.
“I first raced against Greg Biffle in late models back in the mid-90s,” Harvick posted on social media. “Even then, he was a fierce competitor who never gave an inch. If you beat him, you earned it, and I have great respect for him. I saw that same determination in the tireless commitment Greg and Cristina showed while volunteering in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
“While Greg’s legacy will always live on the track, the impact of the work he and his family did for those affected communities has reached far beyond racing. Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and loved ones of Greg, Cristina, Emma, and Ryder, as well as Craig Wadsworth, and Dennis and Jack Dutton, and everyone touched by this tragedy.”

Two great competitors. Kevin Harvick’s words sum up, like many others have, just what the NASCAR community is feeling at this time. It is a terrible tragedy, and there are so many hurting today. The kind words and messages about Biffle have been touching.
When NASCAR was starting to enter the heights of its popularity in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Greg Biffle came in as a bit of a throwback driver. His climb to the Cup Series took years. He didn’t start racing in a NASCAR national series until he was 28 years old.
For comparison, Corey Heim broke Biffle’s single-season wins record in the Truck Series this season with 12 total. Before that, Biffle had the record with 9 wins. Heim was 23 this year when he accomplished that feat. When Biffle did it, he was 29. Even with his late start, Biffle managed to win 56 total national series races.
Biffle was a blue-collar driver. He was someone who had to earn his place for years on the short tracks of the West Coast until Jack Roush was tipped off about his talent. Even then, Biffle had to race three seasons in the Truck Series and two years in the Busch Series.
Along with drivers like Kevin Harvick, Greg Biffle helped define the rough and rowdy era of the early and mid-2000s. Through all the wins, losses, close calls, and everything in between, Biffle was a key factor in a generation of NASCAR that is widely regarded as the best. He will be missed, but his memory and legacy will live on.
