Often regarded as the greatest shooter in history, Steph Curry reached a major career milestone and moved up the NBA's all-time list on Christmas Day.
While leading the Golden State Warriors to a 126-116 win over Cooper Flagg and the Dallas Mavericks, Curry, 37, surpassed 26,000 career points. He scored 23 in 33 minutes despite posting an uncharacteristic low shooting percentage of 33.3% from the field. He only splashed two three-pointers out of the 10 he attempted.
Curry connected on just 6-of-18 shots in the game, but finished the night with 26,011 points and a 47.1% career mark. He also added a three rebounds and four assists.
The four-time champion and two-time league MVP now sits in 22nd place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Curry sits ahead of contemporary DeMar DeRozan and behind 60 points away from Basketball Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett, who retired with 26,071.

Realizing he has many more NBA years behind him than in front of him, Curry was just appreciative of the moment after the game.
"It's a great honor... I don't ever take it for granted."

For as incredible as the career achievement is, Curry had no idea he was close to it.
"No, I didn't know going into it, which is great because those things take care of themselves," Curry said, per NBC Sports Bay Area's Ali Thanawalla. "The more you play, the more opportunity you get out there. And it is a special milestone for sure, just, 22 guys in the history of the league.
"You look up and you know there are some other active players still doing it, still climbing the ladder and I'm happy to be a part of that chase to see how far I can get up there."
But more important than any personal achievement, Curry's Warriors won their third game in a row as they have crawled to a winning record at 16-15. However, Golden State's up and down year has them only in the No. 8 spot in the Western Conference standings.
And if the Warriors are going to continue climbing up the standings and contend, they will need Curry to cook as often as possible. The 11-time All-Star entered the day averaging 28.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 21 games so far through the 2025-26 season, his 17th in the NBA.
