Ole Miss QB Trinidad Chambliss answers big question about Lane Kiffin

Trinidad Chambliss enjoyed tremendous success under Lane Kiffin after the quarterback transferred to Ole Miss, but it sounds like it has been a while since he has spoken with his former coach.

Kiffin led Ole Miss to the College Football Playoff before being hired as the head coach at LSU. He said he wanted to remain with the Rebels for their postseason run but that the school would not allow it. Now that Kiffin is officially with a different program, he is technically unable to speak with his former players. That includes Chambliss.

On Tuesday, Chambliss was asked if he has spoken with Kiffin as Ole Miss prepares for its College Football Playoff quarterfinal game against Georgia. The senior said he has not.

"I don’t think that’s even allowed right now," Chambliss told reporters.

Trinidad Chambliss has had an outstanding season

Chambliss had an excellent regular season with Kiffin calling plays for Ole Miss, and the success continued even without his former coach in the opening round of the College Football Playoff. He completed 23-of-29 passes for 282 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in the Rebels' convincing 41-10 win over Tulane. Chambliss also rushed for 36 yard and two scores.

A transfer from Division II Ferris State, Chambliss threw 18 touchdown passes and three interceptions during the regular season. Kiffin regularly went out of his way to heap praise on the quarterback, and there has already been speculation that Chambliss could try to transfer to LSU if he is granted another year of eligibility.

If Chambliss is granted another year of eligibility, there will be plenty of interest in him on the transfer market.

Trinidad Chambliss looking forward to Georgia rematch

Ole Miss has just one loss this season, and it came against Georgia on Oct. 18. Chambliss completed 19-of-36 passes for 263 yards and a touchdown in that game. He ran for 42 yards and two scores as the Rebels fell, 43-35.

Chambliss told reporters on Monday that Ole Miss "felt like we were the better team that day."

"I'm very excited to play Georgia again. The first outcome wasn't the outcome that we wanted. We felt like we were the better team that day and we felt like we should have won that game," Chambliss said. "Like I said before, I feel like I've got to finish games in the fourth quarter. It's gonna be another dogfight."

Chambliss and the Rebels will have a chance to prove that they are the better team than Georgia on New Year's Day.
