Dallas Cowboys owner/GM Jerry Jones has a reputation for being a hard bargainer.
That has clearly helped him in the business world, but not so much when it comes to signing players. He's infamously dragged out negotiations and rubbed his stars the wrong way with his comments and treatment. Notably, that also applies to agents.
That's why the fact that David Mulugheta representing George Pickens isn't a minor detail. He's also Micah Parsons' agent, and he reportedly had a run-in with Jones during those rocky negotiations.
Fast forward to today, and the controversial business mogul might have no choice but to get in Mulugheta's good graces. Even so, Jon Machota of The Athletic reported that Jones still doesn't know if he's going to talk to him.
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on 105.3 The Fan on if he'll be talking contract this offseason with WR George Pickens directly or with his agent, David Mulugheta: 'I don't know. We'll see how it goes. Probably both,'" Machota wrote on X.
Jones and the Cowboys were one of the most active teams in the trade market this season. He's opened up on how he's sabotaged the team in the past, and he knows the clock is ticking on him. Pickens has been a bit of a handful at times. There are significant reasons to be concerned about his character and work ethic.
Still, he's coming off the best season of his young career, hauling in 92 receptions on 134 targets for 1,420 yards and nine touchdowns through 16 games. The Cowboys thrived on offense with him next to CeeDee Lamb. And if Jones wants the team to stay competitive, he may have to swallow his pride once and for all.
