Giannis Antetokounmpo plays superhero, saves Bucks with game-winning dunk

The Milwaukee Bucks enjoyed every bit of having their hero in a Bucks uniform on Friday night.

Even in the midst of rumors about his future, Giannis Antetokounmpo put on his cape when called upon to lead Milwaukee to a one-point win.

To cap off his 30-point performance, Antetokounmpo secured the 122-121 victory over the Charlotte Hornets with a monster dunk. Antetokounmpo's game-winning slam took place with just 4.7 seconds left in the game and the Bucks trailing 121-120.

Milwaukee then held on thanks to strong defensive stand in the remaining seconds to prevent the Hornets from stealing the game.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded his second straight 30-point double-double

But Antetokounmpo did far more than just step up in the closing seconds. He posted a 30-point double-double, scoring exactly 30 with 10 rebounds and five assists.

Continuing his insane efficiency, Antetokounmpo shot 61.1% from the field, the third time he surpassed 60% shooting in his last four games.

And of course, his efficiency has also occurred while putting up big scoring numbers. Friday night marked back-to-back games with at least 30 points.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been having a historic season for efficient scoring

The two-time NBA MVP upped his season averages after entering the game averaging 28.9 points on an eye-popping 63.9% shooting clip from the field in 20 games played.

While missing eight games with right calf injury — he returned to action on Dec. 27 — cost Antetokounmpo his place in the MVP conversation, his recent heroic play should help him join the list of leading candidates once again.

Of course, and much to chagrin of Bucks fan, Antetokounmpo's name will be discussed from now until the trade deadline on Feb. 5 as a superstar who could shake up the balance of power in the league if moved.

And the fact that Antetokounmpo, who led the Bucks to the franchise's first NBA title in 50 years in 2021, has to be at such a superhero level for his now 15-20 team to win is why it's possible he may feel moving on would be his only path to enjoying team success.
