As expected, Andy Reid is going to return for another season.
That being said, the Kansas City Chiefs' coaching staff might look entirely different next season.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy are both head-coaching candidates, with the latter's contract set to expire on Sunday.
According to NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, that paves the way for Andy Reid to reunite with one of his former assistants to help the offense.
"In either case, the Chiefs could welcome back former Reid assistants such as Mike Kafka or Eric Bieniemy, both of whom could inject some new ideas from their previous places of employment while retaining some familiarity. In addition, a substantial roster reboot is also afoot, with the team significantly over the cap and coming off a rare disappointing season," the report read.
Kafka is currently the New York Giants' interim head coach, while Bieniemy is the Chicago Bears' running backs coach.
Reid's offensive system is infamously complicated, so it would certainly help to bring someone who's already familiar with the concepts.
The Chiefs had a top-five offense in all five years with Bieniemy as offensive coordinator, including three seasons as the No. 1 team in total offense.
And with that unit regressing in every year since he left, he would probably make the most sense.
This team has plenty of work to do in the offseason, and while a lot of that will have to do with revamping the roster, finding the right people to call the shots will also be crucial for GM Brett Veach.
