Questions about the futures of quarterback Lamar Jackson and head coach John Harbaugh hovered over the Baltimore Ravens before the team's 2025 season ended via a brutal 26-24 loss at the rival Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night.
Following the defeat, Jackson was directly asked if he feels he will remain with the Ravens through the offseason. He may have said plenty with his non-answer.
"We just lost a game – a divisional game – a game to put us in the playoffs," Jackson said, per the Ravens' website. "I'm not even thinking about that right now, to be honest with you. I'm still caught up in what just happened. That's not my focus right now."
A recent report shared that Harbaugh had allegedly grown "tired of" Jackson after Jackson had fallen asleep in some team meetings. Additionally, some have linked Jackson with the Miami Dolphins and the Las Vegas Raiders.
It was said as recently as this past Friday that the Ravens "absolutely want" Jackson to remain their QB1 for the foreseeable future. That said, Ryan Mink of the team's website pointed out that the salary-cap hit related to Jackson's contract jumps to $74.5M next season. Thus, the two sides may need to work out an extension over the next few months. Jackson understandably had other things on his mind following Sunday's game.
"I thought we had it in the bag," Jackson added during his comments. "I thought we had it in the bag. I don't know what else we can do."
As for Harbaugh, a report from last week said that talk about the Ravens possibly parting ways with the one-time Super Bowl champion head coach was mostly stemming "from fan discontent." Following Sunday's loss, he indicated he wants to stay in his role.
Jackson had a chance to give Harbaugh a public vote of confidence. The two-time Most Valuable Player Award winner instead went down a different route.
"You're asking me about next year," Jackson responded when asked if he wants Harbaugh to remain Baltimore's head coach. "I'm so caught up in what just happened tonight. I can't focus on that right now, I just told you. Like he asked me, 'Are you stunned?' I'm stunned right now, and I'm still trying to process what's going on. I know we lost, but what the ... you know?"
Perhaps Jackson will have more to say about the subject once he fully processes what went wrong for the Ravens at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium.
