Rex Ryan 'blown away' by insane stat that will forever stain Jets franchise

Despite a miserable 3-14 season, the 2025 New York Jets will go down in NFL history as far more than just a typical bad team.

The Jets finished the regular season with an accomplishment that further tarnishes head coach Aaron Glenn's first year at the helm.

After failing to pick off Mitchell Trubisky, who was starting for the resting Josh Allen, in a 35-8 loss to the Bills, the 2025 Jets became the very first team in league history complete a full season without even one interception.

A truly unbelievable statistic

Not one single member of the Jets' defense was able to pick any of the 515 passes thrown against them throughout the season, something that hadn't happened in the NFL since the league started keeping track of interceptions back in 1933.

"I think this is one of the most unbelievable stats in the history of the NFL," said ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky when asked to make sense of the statistical anomaly on Monday's "Get Up" show

Former Jets HC Rex Ryan is blown away by state of his old team

Former Jets head coach and fellow ESPN analyst Rex Ryan took the criticism to another level.

Initially cutting in and saying "you're being nice," Ryan unloaded on the ineptitude of his former team.

"This one kinda blows me away. There's no way in hell you see this coming - the whole season without an interception. If I went two weeks, you'd ask 'what the hell is going on'?

And to make matters worse, opposing quarterbacks threw 36 touchdown passes to go along with their combined zero picks. To fully put zero interceptions for a defense into perspective, the Cowboys, Titans and 49ers tied for the lowest total ahead of the Jets with six for each unit. No NFL team has ever ended up with fewer than two in a season.

Aaron Glenn knew all about picking off passes as a player

In all reality no statistic really matters in a 3-14 season, but this one stands out due to there being no precedent for it and also because of the head coach who will live with this stain on his resume.

Glenn's past as a three-time Pro Bowl cornerback - he totaled 41 career picks in 15 years as a player - has to make being the coach who led the first team with this crazy distinction even more disheartening.
