Dillon Brooks kept getting away with rule violation against Thunder

Dillon Brooks continues to try to troll opponents during free throws, and game officials are allowing him to get away with it.

Brooks could be seen stomping into the lane just before Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander attempted a free throw during Sunday’s game at PHX Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. Gilgeous-Alexander looked baffled afterward, and appealed to the referees to call a lane violation on the Suns forward.

This is not a new move for Brooks. He engaged in some free throw shenanigans with LeBron James last month as well. Video from that game also showed Brooks pulling the same move he pulled on the Thunder, much to James’ obvious frustration.

Brooks loves to do this, and it certainly fits with his previous pattern of behavior. He will look for any edge he can find to get in his opponents’ heads. If he can irk opponents by getting away with a lane violation, why shouldn’t he try to keep doing it?

Brooks wound up scoring 22 points during Sunday’s 108-105 Phoenix victory. He is in his first season with the Suns, and appears to be playing a significant role in changing the culture there.
