No. 2 UConn survives upset bid from Villanova in overtime

Two of the best teams in the Big East in No. 2 UConn and Villanova put on a show for the ages on Saturday.

But it was the Huskies (19-1, 9-0 Big East) who prevailed over the Wildcats (15-5, 6-3 Big East) in overtime to earn a 75-67 win.

The Huskies led 69-67 with under a minute to play in overtime, but Silas Demary Jr. knocked down a tough layup to make it a four-point game. Villanova's Bryce Lindsay then missed an ill-advised three, with Demary nailing two free throws to keep UConn undefeated in conference play. The victory is UConn's 15th in a row.

Alex Karaban has clutch second half for UConn

While Demary iced the game, it was Karaban who scored its final points.

But Karaban, who scored 17 on Saturday afternoon, did not have an easy go of things.

The fifth-year senior was held scoreless in the first half before exploding over the final 25 minutes. Karaban ended with a 4-for-10 mark from the floor and an excellent 8-for-9 clip from the charity stripe.

Demary chipped in 10 points of his own, while Solo Ball led the Huskies with 24 points on 7-for-17 shooting. Duke Brennan and Tyler Perkins scored 16 apiece to lead Villanova in the scoring column.
