Emotional Sean McVay reveals what he told Rams after NFC Championship loss

The Los Angeles Rams saw their season come to a heartbreaking end with a 31-27 road loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Sunday's NFC Championship Game.

The Rams were denied their third Super Bowl appearance under head coach Sean McVay, who was emotional in his postgame news conference.

What Sean McVay told Rams locker room

"To be honest, I love this team," McVay said when asked about his postgame message to the locker room. "I wasn't ready to stop working with them. Thought we had two more weeks together. But I am really grateful for each of those individuals and the collective, it's a special of a group, top to bottom, as I've ever been around.

"This was a special year, and I think it's hard to fathom that it's over. It'll take some time. Nothing but gratitude. That's what I want them to know."

McVay has now completed nine seasons as the head coach of the Rams, making the playoffs in seven of those nine campaigns. He's been to the NFC Championship Game three times, and the Rams will likely be considered a favorite in the NFC again next season despite Sunday's defeat.

McVay's record as the head coach of the Rams is 102-63, and at age 40, he's sure to be around the NFL for decades to come.
