Coco Gauff destroyed her racket after losing at Australian Open

Coco Gauff got hammered in the Australian Open on Tuesday night and lost in straight sets to Elina Svitolina, and she was not happy about it.

Gauff got steamrolled 6-1, 6-2 by Svitolina in their quarterfinal match in Melbourne, Australia.

Gauff was so upset with herself after her 59-minute defeat that she smashed her racket in the indoor area ahead of the locker room.

She looked ticked off — understandably so.

Gauff reached the semifinals at the Australian Open in 2024 and now has lost in the quarterfinals twice in a row since then. She won the French Open last year and will be looking to defend that title in four months.

Gauff was inexplicably off on Tuesday night and served poorly; she didn’t even hold serve once in the first set, while committing multiple double faults. She committed 26 unforced errors and had just three winners.
