Eagles' latest interview for OC job sounds like a desperate hire

The Philadelphia Eagles won't be repeating as Super Bowl champions this season after collapsing in the last seven games of the season (3-4) and taking a first-round playoff exit to the San Francisco 49ers.

The offense can be assigned blame for the collapse, as former offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo did not put together a more dynamic unit. The Eagles had the 24th-ranked offense in the NFL (311.2 yards), but had some success in the red zone (70.5 percent success rate).

Needing a new offensive coordinator to turn things around, the Eagles are turning to Green Bay Packers quarterbacks coach Sean Mannion, who will be interviewing in person for the job, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Mannion has interviewed once (virtually) and has a strong chance of getting the job after the Eagles' string of bad luck in hiring candidates.

Mannion's job with the Packers was to help their star quarterback, Jordan Love, grow and develop, which hasn't gone well. Love has slowly regressed over the past three seasons, seeing his numbers drop from 4,159 yards in 2023 to 3,381 in 2025 while throwing 23 touchdowns.

Love's regression could be seen as a bad sign for the Eagles to hire Mannion as their offensive coordinator. Jalen Hurts has also seen his struggles under center. Hurts also struggles to avoid getting sacked, having four straight seasons of 30+ sacks (2022-25).

If hired, Mannion would be Hurts' seventh offensive coordinator since joining the Eagles, which hasn't been good for his development, either. For the Eagles to get the most out of their star quarterback, they'll need to have stability at offensive coordinator.
