Chiefs' Eric Bieniemy may have tipped Travis Kelce's hand

Eric Bieniemy is back in town.

Andy Reid picked up the phone to bring his former offensive coordinator back into the building.

The Kansas City Chiefs' offense has regressed since Bieniemy left, and they hope that he can bring some fresh ideas to the table after one year under Ben Johnson's guidance.

Bieniemy was instrumental in the development of both Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. That's why he's excited to get back together with them.

While Kelce is mulling retirement, it sound like Bieniemy expects him back.

Travis Kelce might be back with the Chiefs next season

“I’ve had just a small, minimal conversation with both, but more than anything, it’s just the excitement of reuniting," Bieniemy told KC Sports Network. "I’m looking forward to getting back in the grind and chopping wood with them.”

Kelce already teased fans about potentially running it back next season when he heard of Bieniemy's return. He previously shared that he'd give the Chiefs enough time in advance to plan if he didn't intend to be back.

Kelce finished the season with 851 receiving yards and five touchdowns, according to Football Reference. He may not be the best tight end in the game anymore, but he clearly still has plenty left in the tank.

Will Bieniemy's return lead this team back to the top? Or has the ship sailed? We shall see.
