Lakers' Bronny James has put on a show in last two games

Bronny James is dunking as much or more than his famous dad, Los Angeles Lakers teammate, LeBron James. Heck, based on the last two games and the crowd reactions, Bronny is pretty much just a younger Vince Carter draped in purple and gold.

That might be a stretch, but Bronny has a couple of breakaway dunks in the Lakers’ last two games, including a Friday night hammer in a 142-111 road throttling of the Washington Wizards. And they might be the two most over-hyped dunks... ever.

Bronny’s fourth-quarter slam on Friday came off a deflected pass that saw James gather the ball, sprint down the court, and throw it down with his right hand. In the few seconds it took for James to race from the defensive end of the court to above the rim, the Washington crowd rose to their feet and screamed with the type of enthusiasm D.C.’s Capital One Arena seemingly hasn’t had since Gilbert Arenas was dueling Bronny’s old man during the postseason of his first Cavaliers stint.

Bronny James excites opposing fans

The opposing crowd raucously cheering a Bronny throwdown is becoming somewhat commonplace. At least this week.

In L.A.’s Wednesday night loss to Cleveland, Bronny scored eight points during garbage time and each bucket drew massive cheers from the home fans. None more so than when he stole a Lonzo Ball pass with under four minutes to play and darted down the court for a one-handed flush. Cavs and Lakers fans alike were seen with arms raised above their heads, applauding the second-year player’s efforts.

Maybe Bronny has finally found his NBA niche. Dunking.

He’s now played and dunked in back-to-back games after appearing in only about half of L.A.’s games through the first half of the season. Luka’s never really been interested in playing above the rim and though LeBron can still get up, Father Time keeps visiting.

If you’re looking for a revival of Showtime, maybe wait till Bronny checks in.
