Caitlin Clark explains why she aspires to learn from Luka Doncic

Unlike the Dallas Mavericks , Caitlin Clark likes what she sees from Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic.

What? Too soon?

Clark joined NBC's pregame broadcast ahead of Sunday night's Lakers vs. New York Knicks game and called Doncic "amazing and incredible" before going on to discuss how she could pattern parts of her game after his to improve as she prepares to enter her third WNBA season.

"He's not the fastest, he's not the most athletic, but he can get his defender to move where he wants them to go," Clark told pregame host Maria Taylor. " ...He does a really good job of either keeping the defender behind him or keeping to the side. I think that's something I can certainly learn from."

Caitlin Clark is right to want to emulate Luka Doncic

Any hooper would be wise to borrow from Doncic's game. He's been named First-Team All-NBA five times, won the league's scoring title in 2024 and is currently tops in the league with an average of 33.7 points per night. He's also grabbing nearly 7.8 boards and dishing out 8.8 assists a game while shooting better than 47.7% from the field.

Good call, Caitlin.

"I think (Luka's offensive game) is something I can certainly learn from," added Clark. "I always kind of want to run away from the defense rather than absorbing the contact and taking the space they give me. So, obviously he's pretty incredible, he averages like a thirty-point triple-double.

"He makes it look pretty easy but I can promise you it's not that easy."

Few, other than maybe former Mavericks GM Nico Harrison, would argue Clark's point.
