Caitlin Clark has awkward moment with Reggie Miller during NBC debut

Caitlin Clark managed to get Reggie Miller’d in record time.

The Indiana Fever superstar made her debut during NBC’s “Basketball Night in America” on Sunday. Clark was on-site at Madison Square Garden ahead of a game between the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Caitlin Clark seems less than thrilled about Reggie Miller's NBA comparison for her

In the middle of the pregame show, the retired Basketball Hall of Famer Miller was asked to provide an NBA player comparison for Clark, who was standing next to him at the time. Miller somehow decided on Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard … resulting in Clark’s face visibly dropping.

Here is the video of the awkward moment.

The smile could not have come off Clark’s face any quicker there. Pritchard is a very respectable player who is the NBA’s reigning Sixth Man of the Year and is now averaging career highs across the board as a starter for the Celtics this season. But he is still very much a role player and nowhere close to face-of-the-league material like Clark is in the WNBA.

In fairness to Miller, he did also show proper love to Clark, his fellow Indiana basketball icon, during another point in the broadcast.

Clark was just announced several days ago as a new contributor to NBC’s ongoing coverage of the NBA (read the full details here). But getting compared to Pritchard by Miller while live on the air during her debut might just have to go down as Clark’s initiation moment.
