With the NFL draft just a couple of months away, we have started to see some mock drafts, and we know the Dallas Cowboys need to use their two first round picks on defense, but we know how Jerry Jones is.
With Javonte Williams set to be a free agent and no real lead running back in the building, if April rolls around with him unsigned, and Jeremiyah Love falls to Dallas at 12, I think there is a chance Jerry Jones pulls the trigger and drafts him.
Every mock draft that I have seen thus far has Love going as early as nine and late as 18 to the Vikings.
CBS has the Cowboys taking him at pick 12, even though this team was the worst team in football on defense, this is such a flash player, they think Jerry would draft him.
You get a rookie running back who finished his 2025 junior season as a 2025 AP First-Team All-American with exceptional numbers, including 1,372 rushing yards (6.9 ypc), 18 rushing touchdowns, and 1,652 all-purpose yards.
He is recognized for his high efficiency, boasting a 93.9 PFF rushing grade.
Adding love to the Dallas offense, of course, would be awesome, but we all understand the issue with this team. It is on the defensive side of the football, I just find it hard to see a world where if the top cornerback or safety is still there, they don’t take him.
Dallas has some decisions to make before we get to this point, though. They have George Pickens and Javonte Williams as pending free agents.
They can put the tag on Pickens, so I don’t think he is going anywhere, but if they let Williams walk, keep an eye on Dallas drafting Love with the 12th pick if he falls to them.
I have a feeling that Love could go as high as five for the Arizona Cardinals or as low as 18 to the Vikings. At this point, it really is all a guessing game, but how would you feel if Love was there at 12?

If Caleb Downs and Mansoor Delane are both gone by the time Dallas is on the clock and Love has slipped down to them, I honestly think Jerry Jones takes him.
He can have another running back on a rookie deal, pay much less than he would for Williams in free agency and not have to worry about anything on that side of the ball for a while if they sign Pickens long term.
It then comes down to what they do with the 20th overall pick they have from the Micah Parsons trade.
We will see how the next two months play out, because I would rather just resign Williams and bring him back into an offense which he was very good with a year ago and will not have to learn anything new.
This draft should be all about defense, but we know Jerry Jones would enjoy having Love fall for him because it is all about money for him.
It has been a solid start to the offseason, and I hope it continues, but this post was worth making because I am starting to look at mock drafts, and this is a move that Jerry would 100% love to do and nobody can tell me otherwise.
If this defense does not improve, it will not matter who else they add to the offense, because they averaged 30 a year ago and still could only muster seven wins because they couldn’t have stopped me out there. It was so bad.
I would like them to trade the 20th pick and possible move up, but I will save that for another day.
