The Golden State Warriors appear to be serious about potentially trading Draymond Green to land Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Green has been involved in active trade conversations between the Warriors and other teams, according to Anthony Slater of ESPN. Specifically, Green’s name has been involved in potential frameworks of any deal with the Milwaukee Bucks to get Antetokounmpo.

For the Warriors to acquire Antetokounmpo, they will have to include either Green or Jimmy Butler in the deal in order to match salaries. Green’s contract is easier to trade, and the Bucks have more interest in him than they do Butler.

Green has long been part of Golden State’s untouchable core, but when a player like Antetokounmpo becomes available, things change. His name had not even come up until this past week, when the Bucks indicated an openness to move Antetokounmpo. Green himself has largely downplayed the rumors.

The Warriors are treating this season as their potential last shot to get another championship with Steph Curry. When that is the goal, potentially huge shakeups are on the table, and that is the case here.

Green, 35, is averaging 8.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game for the Warriors this season.
