Packers' Micah Parsons has this regret about relationship with Cowboys' Jerry Jones

Current Green Bay Packers star pass-rusher Micah Parsons had Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones as a boss from the opening night of the 2021 NFL Draft up until the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Packers in late August 2025 following a lengthy contract standoff. 

During a recent chat with Clarence Hill of All City DLLS Cowboys (h/t Pro Football Talk), Parsons discussed how he and Jones failed to come to terms on an extension last summer.

“I just wish some of those things never happened," Parsons acknowledged. "You know what I mean? I wish that he never brought me into the office and just let the agent speak. And I wish he hadn’t compromised our relationship. I thought me and Jerry had a good relationship up to that point until this offseason, and it’s sad that it went to s--- like that."

As the story goes, Jones declined to negotiate directly with agent David Mulugheta throughout contract talks before the Cowboys traded Parsons for two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. The Packers then signed Parsons to a four-year, $188M contract that included $136M guaranteed.

"There’s only two people who know the real truth — me and Jerry Jones," Parsons said. "I’m not mad or anything. I went to another historic organization. I got paid a historic amount. So I got really nothing to be mad about in this world."

Parsons tallied a total of 12.5 sacks over 14 games during his first season with Green Bay before he went down with a torn ACL in December. Following that injury, Jones insisted he was "sad for Micah." Jones also wished Parsons "the very best on his recovery" at that time.

While things between the two seemingly ended poorly, Parsons indicated he's still grateful for the time he spent in Dallas. 

"I don’t know about Jerry, but I have no bad blood," Parsons added. "If I saw Jerry today, I would shake hands with him and say thank you for the opportunity I had to be a Cowboy."
