The New York Knicks have Jalen Brunson to thank for continuing their win streak. On Wednesday night, Brunson led the Knicks to a win over the Denver Nuggets in a cross-conference possible NBA Finals preview.
Brunson put up 42 points, but it took two overtimes for New York to secure a 134-127 victory. And Brunson put on his cape down stretch to save the day, scoring 10 of his total in the second overtime alone.
Brunson's monster performance came while shooting 51.9% from the field, connecting on 14-of-27 and also sinking 5-of-12 from long range.
Factoring in adding eight rebounds and nine assists, Brunson's overall game argues as his best of the season. His 42 points marked his third 40-ball during the 2025-26 campaign, with 47 from back on Dec. 21 against Miami being his season-best.

Brunson even made some history as well. By registering his ninth game with 40 or more points, five or more assists and five or more rebounds, he surpassed Richie Guerin for the most such occurrences in franchise history.
Brunson allowed the Knicks to overcome big games from both Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Jokic posted a 30-point triple-double, and Murray scored 39 in 48 minutes.

But Brunson's heroics both added to his legacy and led the Knicks to arguably the most impressive win of their recent stretch. New York has now won eight in a row, extending a hot streak that started on Jan. 21 when this Knicks group dominated the Brooklyn Nets to the tune of 120-66, setting a new franchise record for the largest margin of victory.
However, aside from beating the 76ers 112-109 in Philadelphia on Jan. 24, most of the Knicks' win streak has included stacking wins against teams outside the playoff picture.
Brunson and New York will now try to push their luck to nine games when they meet the only team ahead of them in the Eastern Conference standings, the Detroit Pistons, on Friday night.
The Knicks will head into the premiere matchup at 33-18, five games behind Detroit.
