As Major League Baseball teams unveil their promotional schedules for the 2026 season, we are starting to get a sense of which teams have the most deranged senses of humor. The early front-runner has to be the Texas Rangers for their Nolan Ryan giveaway on Friday, May 29, against the Kansas City Royals.
The giveaway that night: A Nolan Ryan bloody lip jersey, which is a Ryan jersey covered in fake blood stains to recreate the infamous bloody lip game from his career with the Rangers.
In a game against the Royals on Sept. 8, 1990, Ryan was hit in the face by a line drive off the bat of Bo Jackson that severely cut his lip, causing him to bleed all of his uniform.
Despite the two-inch gash, and despite needing several stitches after the game, he still managed to throw Jackson out at first base and pitch seven innings while striking out eight batters.
Here is the jersey that the Rangers will be giving away.

Ryan spent five of his 27 major league seasons as a member of the Rangers, throwing two of his Major League record seven no-hitters with them.
While he may have only spent a few years with the Rangers at the end of his career, he had some truly signature moments with the club. Along with the no-hitters and the now-infamous bloody lip, it was also as a member of the Rangers when he made Robin Ventura ponder some of his life's choices when the former Chicago White Sox infielder attempted to charge the mound. It was a memorable time.
