Wizards' Alex Sarr sidelined for Rising Stars game due to hamstring strain

The Washington Wizards were on the road Wednesday evening for a matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Entering that game, the Wizards were 14-38.

Additionally, the team was without the services of second-year pro Alex Sarr. It was his 13th game missed in 2025-26. Those numbers will inflate after the latest news from ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

He reported Thursday morning that Sarr "has sustained a right hamstring strain and will miss approximately two weeks."

Sarr was one of 28 players selected to the Rising Stars game in 2026. With the latest injury news, he will not compete in the event on Friday.

Alex Sarr's impact will be missed

Sarr has started 41 of the team's 53 games in 2025-26. He is averaging a career-high 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.0 blocks per game. For the second consecutive season, Sarr was selected to the Rising Stars game.

While Wizards fans will not be able to watch Sarr in the Rising Stars game, two other Washington players will be in the event. That includes 2024 first-round pick Kyshawn George and 2025 first-round pick Tre Johnson.
