The North Carolina Tar Heels have had a rough week on the basketball court with the news that star freshman Caleb Wilson has to miss some time with a fractured left hand.
Things are looking up for the Tar Heels, though. First and foremost, Wilson is figuring out how to play with a cast on his non-shooting hand, and he may return soon.
North Carolina also just got a massive win on the recruiting trail, which will absolutely boost morale around Chapel Hill.
On Tuesday, Dylan Mingo, a 5-star guard from Glen Head, New York (Long Island Lutheran) committed to North Carolina.
He chose to the Tar Heels over Baylor, Penn State and Washington, though he boasts over 20 offers to his name.

“I chose UNC because it felt like a family environment from the players, fans, to the coaches. I felt like the UNC history and everyone who played there is huge, knowing their will to win is always at the highest level. I would love to be a part of that," Mingo told Joe Tipton of Rivals.
Mingo expressed trust in Hubert Davis and the UNC coaching staff. He felt welcome on campus when he visited but the Tar Heels also stayed consistent with him on the recruiting trail.
Rivals ranks Mingo as the No. 1 point guard and No. 2 overall player in 2026. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 2 combo guard and No. 5 overall hoops recruit in the country.
Either way, Mingo believes the Tar Heels will be happy about the player that they're getting, and he believe he'll be able to do a little bit of everything for them.
“I would describe my game as a versatile and lanky guard who can guard multiple positions and play multiple positions on offense but primary a point guard that can play-make and score by getting to spots," he said.
