Anthony Edwards still has his hometown on his mind.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards had a 2026 NBA All-Star Game to remember on Sunday. During the competition at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, Calif., Edwards was named the All-Star Game MVP after leading Team Stars to victory in the round-robin mini-game format.
It was what Edwards did after the game however that drew most of the attention. While making his rounds with his fellow All-Stars after the final buzzer, Edwards stopped to speak with Atlanta Hawks star Jalen Johnson.
Viral video showed Edwards covering his mouth before appearing to say to Johnson, “I can’t wait to come home.” Edwards also seemingly complimented the Hawks by saying, “Y’all got so many wings” and mentioning how new addition Jonathan Kuminga would be a great fit in Atlanta.

Edwards, 24, is an Atlanta, Ga. native who played his college ball at the University of Georgia. While Edwards is still signed with the Timberwolves through 2029, his comments there to Johnson immediately triggered a wave of speculation about a potential trade to the Hawks.
In any case though, Edwards has a tendency to get himself into trouble by blurting things out. Even in the middle of Sunday’s All-Star Game itself, the former No. 1 overall draft pick accidentally got profane during a live interview.
