NASCAR Cup Series driver Brad Keselowski may not run the entirety of the March 1 NASCAR Cup Series race at Circuit of the Americas as he continues to recover from a broken femur suffered on a ski trip in December.
The 2012 NASCAR Cup Series champion will have veteran road racer Joey Hand on standby, and it's possible that Keselowski will start the race and allow Hand to finish it, which would still allow Keselowski to collect points.
"It is possible," Keselowski told Fox Sports' Bob Pockrass Saturday when asked about potentially getting out of the car early at COTA. "We've kind of run through all that. Got a lot of good options with him. I'm going to just see how I feel. I've got some more tests next week to get through; medical tests, physical tests, I'll probably just see how those go and make the best decision for the team."
Hand, who turned 47 on Feb. 10, has made eight Cup Series starts, with his most recent Cup race coming at the Chicago Street Course. Hand finished fourth in that race while driving the No. 60 RFK Racing Ford.
Keselowski will start fifth in Sunday's Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway and is coming off of a fifth-place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500.
