Chase Briscoe comes from the back of the pack to finish second at Atlanta

Chase Briscoe started Sunday's Autotrader 400 at EchoPark Speedway in 34th. He finished second after a blue collar, grind-it-out day that saw him come up one spot shy of a victory.

Briscoe pushed 23XI Racing driver Tyler Reddick to the win after he was unable to generate enough of a run to make a stab at the top spot himself on the final lap.

"I think it says a lot about our team," Briscoe told Fox Sports regarding his charge from the rear of the field. "We're fast enough to where we can drive through the field. Even with all the adversity that kind of happened on pit road ... When you start that far back, you don't get good pit stall selection. It just buries you all day long.

"Thought we did everything right. Happy with the result, we're back in the Chase."

Atlanta finish a much-needed result for Briscoe

Briscoe finished 36th in the season-opening Daytona 500 on Feb. 15 and entered Sunday's race 37th in the Cup Series standings. He's up to 15th after his runner-up effort on Sunday.

Briscoe is the highest Joe Gibbs Racing driver in the Cup Series standings through two races and the only one inside the provisional Chase field.
