Wednesday's game became a typical night for the Sacramento Kings during the 2025-26 season... they lost and lost in blowout fashion.
However, even though the Kings fell 128-97 to the Houston Rockets, one of Sacramento's veteran star players reached a significant career milestone.
DeMar DeRozan, 36, has now approached a level that may ensure he eventually becomes a Basketball Hall of Famer someday. The 17-year NBA veteran is now a member of the league's top 20 all-time scorers.
Putting up 15 points in 24 minutes on Wednesday, DeRozan now has 26,406 career points, placing him at No. 20 after he passed two Boston Celtics legends from two different eras, Jon Havlicek (26,395) and Paul Pierce (26,397).
He's now behind Stephen Curry for 19th, granted the Golden State Warriors legend is also still going and showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Showing his versatility, DeRozan also added seven assists and a rebound against the Rockets. He's averaging 18.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists through exactly 60 games on the year.
And even though the Kings have regressed as a team, currently holding a 13-47 record after going 40-42 last season, DeRozan continues to demonstrate his longevity and ability to still be a productive player.
While DeRozan's name may not immediately jump out as a future Hall of Famer to most fans, he's put together a resume that may make him worthy of induction, especially since every other eligible player on the NBA's top 25 scoring list has already been enshrined and the others are still active and locks to join them as soon as possible.
A Compton, California, native and USC product, DeRozan was drafted with the ninth overall selection in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors, where he spent the first nine years of his career.
He's a six-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA Second Team, spanning a career that's also included stints with the San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Bulls. As far as more for his basketball resume, DeRozan was named the 2009 Pac-10 Tournament MVP, and his number has already been retired by the Trojans.
