Kon Knueppel makes NBA history in Hornets' ninth straight road win

There is a new record holder for most three-pointers made in an NBA season by a rookie, and it belongs to Kon Knueppel.

Kon Knueppel makes history in win

With his eight three pointers in the Charlotte Hornets' 133-109 win over the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Knueppel made NBA history. He surpassed Keegan Murray for the most three-pointers made by a rookie in a single season.

Knueppel now sits at 209 made threes on the season, surpassing the previous record of 206 set by Murray in 2023. With 22 games remaining, Knueppel has the chance to clear the previous record by quite a large margin.

Kon Knueppel's performance may have been overshadowed by his teammate

Despite his eight threes made and 28 points for the game, Knueppel was not the leading scorer for the game. That title belonged to his teammate, third-year guard Brandon Miller.

Miller poured in 33 points in just 26 minutes, his most points in a game since the All-Star break. Miller knocked down six three-pointers of his own, meaning he and Knueppel combined for 14 of Charlotte's 22 made threes in the game.

Charlotte narrowly missed continuing impressive benchmark

On Tuesday, the Hornets made history by becoming the first NBA team to make 25 or more three-pointers in two consecutive games. They could have furthered that mark Thursday night but fell a bit short.

But Charlotte finished with 22 as a team, just three shy. It was, though, the Hornets' fourth consecutive game with at least 20 made three-pointers.

Charlotte's offense gives it a chance to win any game

The lights-out shooting put on display by Charlotte this season is something that Hornets fans should be excited for. Making 20-plus three-pointers a night gives the team a chance to win every game they play in for the remainder of the season.

If the hot shooting continues for the remainder of the season, Charlotte will march its way into the play-in tournament for the first time in four seasons and potentially the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2015-16 season.
