Raiders sound ready to trade Maxx Crosby for this price

A report from earlier this week revealed that the Las Vegas Raiders would speak with representatives for pass-rusher Maxx Crosby and other teams about Crosby's status during the ongoing NFL Scouting Combine.

It now sounds like such discussions have given the Raiders an idea of "what the proper course of action is" regarding Crosby's future.

Raiders reportedly will trade Maxx Crosby for this price

"Will the Raiders trade defensive end Maxx Crosby? Yes, if they get what they want for him," NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported late Wednesday night. "Per a league source, the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player for the 28-year-old edge rusher."

Speculation has existed for some time that the Raiders could want "probably more" than what the Dallas Cowboys received from the Green Bay Packers for pass-rusher Micah Parsons this past August. The Packers gave the Cowboys two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to acquire Parsons and then sign Parsons to a four-year, $188M contract that included $136M guaranteed.

Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason. It's unclear if he will look to receive a pay raise from either the Raiders or a different team.

One factor could impact whether Raiders trade Maxx Crosby this offseason

Crosby clearly wasn't thrilled about being shut down by the Raiders for the remainder of the 2025 season in late December because of a knee injury. While he seems to have solid working relationships with Raiders principal owner Mark Davis and team minority owner Tom Brady, Florio's update suggests that the 2019 fourth-round draft pick may not be all-in on playing for recently hired head coach Klint Kubiak.

That said, a trade involving Crosby may not be imminent.

"[One] factor surely will be the position of the first-round pick," Florio added about the Raiders' search for a potential trade partner. "Two ones from a perennial playoff team are obviously not the same as two first-rounders from a chronic also-ran. Still, it shows that there’s a price. That Crosby isn’t untradeable. That a deal will happen if a team makes an offer the Raiders will accept."

History shows the Raiders likely would want to get a trade done before the 2026 NFL Draft gets underway on April 23. Interested teams seemingly now know what it would take to land Crosby's services this winter or spring.
