Three QBs who could boost their stock with strong workouts at NFL Combine

Quarterback-needy teams in this year's NFL Draft don't have as much depth to choose from as they're used to. After Fernando Mendoza, there is plenty of room to debate what order the quarterbacks are going to go.

Several big-name quarterbacks are now gearing up for the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. They'll be taking to the field for drills on Saturday. This comes after many had frustrating seasons, for one reason or another, to wrap up their college careers. However, a good performance at the combine could put them back on the radars for NFL teams quickly.

Ahead of quarterbacks taking the field on Saturday, here's a look at three big names to keep an eye on. Each one of them is more than capable of providing a massive boost to their draft stock.

Allar is, in many ways, a prototype quarterback. Rated by 247 Sports as a five-star in the Class of 2022, he's listed at 6-foot-5. Add in a massive arm, and he seems like an ideal NFL quarterback. Except, it never quite came together at Penn State.

In his final season at Penn State, Allar suffered a major leg injury that cut his season short. Now, he's healthy enough to be throwing at the NFL Combine. It's a chance to prove he's overcome his injury, impress in interviews, and remind NFL teams about his upside.

Coming into the 2025 season, many thought of Nussmeier as a potential Heisman finalist and first-round NFL Draft pick. Then, the season happened, and he massively underperformed. In 2024, he threw for more than 4,000 yards before throwing for fewer than 2,000 yards in 2025, a massive drop off that led to a frustrating season for LSU.

Much like Allar, Nussmeier was hampered by injuries and missed time. Unlike Allar, part of his struggles came down to the fact that he tried to play through them at times. That included a torso injury that clearly affected him. Nussmeier is still a very talented quarterback, though. He can remind teams of that at the NFL Combine by throwing well, quashing any concerns about how he struggled in his final college season.

Green is currently ranked eighth among quarterbacks, according to ESPN's Mel Kiper. That's after he played 53 career games at Boise State and, more recently, at Arkansas. Along the way, he threw for 9,662 yards, 59 touchdowns, and 35 interceptions. He also rushed for 2,405 and 35 touchdowns on the ground.

Despite his college longevity and his ideal size, Green has largely been overlooked in the pre-draft process so far. That's why the NFL Combine is so important to a player like Green. The quarterback position is very easy to debate this year, without a clear order to rank this group. So, a strong performance could catapult his draft stock forward.
