Report shares if Maxx Crosby has, will ask to be traded by Raiders

Back in the first half of February, at least one report claimed that Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby had told Raiders minority owner Tom Brady that "he will never play for" Las Vegas again.

Crosby was not happy about being shut down before the end of the 2025 season against his wishes due to a knee injury. It sounds like Crosby has not yet gone down that road this winter.

Maxx Crosby reportedly plans to do this regarding a trade request

"This is a layered discussion because a team source said a few weeks ago that Crosby's chances of returning were relatively small," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported for a piece published on Sunday. "But he doesn't plan to request a trade. He's tight with Raiders owner Mark Davis, and he probably wouldn't garner a Micah Parsons-like trade package (two firsts and a key player)."

Other reports indicated that the Raiders would not trade Crosby unless they received two first-round draft picks and a starting player in return for the 28-year-old, who signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason. For what it's worth, he suggested during a February conversation that he has a good working relationship with Brady.

However, Fowler mentioned that Crosby "wants to win." Crosby has played in just one playoff game since being drafted by the Raiders in 2019, and asking likely Las Vegas starting quarterback Fernando Mendoza to guide the club to a postseason appearance as a rookie could be a bit of a stretch.

How do interested teams reportedly think Raiders will handle Maxx Crosby's status?

"Some teams I've spoken to believe he will remain with the Raiders -- for now," Fowler added about Crosby. "'Why would you trade him?' one GM asked. 'He's a premier player at a premier position.' Added an executive from an NFC team: 'I think the price is too high. I'm not sure they really want to move him at this point. But that could change.'"

Before the events of this past season, Crosby hinted on numerous occasions that he was serious about wanting to retire a one-club man. If he isn't going to make things awkward for the Raiders behind the scenes, Davis and Brady may feel that Crosby is worth more to the team as an on-the-field contributor than a tradable piece.
