A recent report revealed that Las Vegas Raiders star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby "doesn't plan to request a trade" even though he was quite unhappy about being shut down by the club against his wishes in late December 2025 because of an injury that left him needing meniscus surgery.
However, NFL insider Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated seems unconvinced that Crosby will play another in-game snap for the club that drafted him back in 2019.
"I’d lean toward a Maxx Crosby trade happening, and maybe this week," Breer wrote for an article published on Monday. "...I don’t think the Raiders want to go through the song-and-dance of shopping him, nor do I believe Crosby wants it advertised that he’s looking for suitors, given his bond with owner Mark Davis, and his view of himself as a Raider."
Specifically, Breer shared that the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams are "keeping tabs on" Crosby's status. That said, Crosby signed a three-year, $106.5M contract extension last offseason, so he may only have so much say regarding where he ends up unless he makes it clear he doesn't want to play for a certain club.
Since at least early February, numerous stories have suggested that the Raiders will want to receive two first-round draft picks and a starting player in return for Crosby if he's traded before the upcoming player-selection process gets underway on the night of April 23. Breer explained why it likely will "be difficult" for Las Vegas to get such a haul for Crosby's services.
"Crosby — who has built a good working relationship with GM John Spytek, has had good interaction with new coach Klint Kubiak and is close with recently promoted defensive coordinator Rob Leonard — will turn 29 in August," Breer added. "He has seven NFL seasons under his belt. He ended the past two seasons bound for surgery. Now, no one does more to keep himself physically fit than Crosby. But these factors will all have to be considered."
Crosby allegedly wants to join an advertised contender but seemingly isn't willing to force the issue by submitting a trade request. The Raiders don't appear to be in a rush to trade him but may want to stockpile future assets to better build around quarterback and presumed No. 1 overall draft pick Fernando Mendoza.
In short, it sounds like the Raiders are holding out for a "'Godfather offer" regarding Crosby:

Both teams not wanting to deal their guys but both teams are open to listening..
It would take an offer that both teams couldn't say no to" ~ @AdamSchefter #PMSLive pic.twitter.com/ZEi9iYYIdH
