The Green Bay Packers will lose one of the most valuable backup quarterbacks in the offseason.
Even with Kyler Murray's release, Malik Willis will be one of the most sought-after commodities in free agency.
According to Pro Football Focus' Dalton Wasserman, the Miami Dolphins and Arizona Cardinals will be his most aggressive suitors.
However, since only one can get him, the other team will probably have to pivot to Alabama star Ty Simpson.
"Teams such as the Cardinals and Dolphins will likely be in contention for Willis’ services. Whoever loses that battle could look toward someone like Alabama’s Ty Simpson in this year’s draft to solve their quarterback problem," Wasserman predicted.
The Cardinals currently have the No. 3 pick, so they would likely trade back multiple spots, since Simpson is projected to be a mid-round selection.
The Dolphins, on the other hand, will be on the clock at No. 11, which might be in Simpson's range.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and 211 pounds, Simpson enters the pros with some concerns. He doesn't have much experience as a starter, either, as he spent three years as a backup.
Then again, this quarterback class isn't particularly deep, and with Fernando Mendoza being head and shoulders above the rest of the pack, some team will have to roll the dice on Simpson.
The Cardinals and Dolphins will both move on from their franchise quarterbacks and need cost-controlled options after taking a huge cap hit.
And while Malik Willis might be their quickest path to contention, someone will have to take a chance on the rookie.
