How NASCAR drivers fared in previous attempts to win four straight races

Tyler Reddick will try to do something only two NASCAR Cup Series drivers have done in the last three decades: win four consecutive races.

Reddick became the first driver to open a season with three straight wins on March 1 at Circuit of the Americas. On Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, he'll try and join Jeff Gordon in 1998 and Jimmie Johnson in 2007 as the the third driver in 30 years to win four straight Cup races.

Here are how some of the most recent drivers who won three straight fared in their ill-fated attempts to match Gordon and Johnson and win a fourth consecutive race.

Joey Logano, Martinsville, November 2015

Logano's lost opportunity at a fourth straight win might be the most infamous example on this list. After sweeping all three races in the Round of 12 during the 2015 Chase, Logano was far and away the Cup Series title favorite.

But a previous run-in at Kansas with Matt Kenseth that led to Kenseth's Chase elimination came back to bite Logano. After Kenseth was taken out of the race, he decided that if he wasn't going to win the championship, Logano wasn't going to either.

With 47 laps to go, Logano, who was leading, was wrecked by Kenseth in turn 1. Logano went on to be eliminated from Chase contention, though he later won three championships in 2018, 2022 and 2024, respectively.

Kevin Harvick, Fontana, March 2018

Four races into the 2018 Cup Series season, Kevin Harvick was in a league of his own. He was coming off wins at Atlanta, Las Vegas and Phoenix, though the Las Vegas win was surrounded by controversy over a penalty handed to Harvick's No. 4 team.

Nonetheless, the circuit went to Fontana, Calif., for the fifth race of 2018 with Harvick looking to make history. However, a crash relegated Harvick to a 35th-place finish, denying him a chance at history.

Harvick made the Championship 4 in 2018 but did not take a second championship.

Kyle Larson, Pocono, June 2021

This was the closest a driver on this list came to winning four straight races. After winning three races in a row at Charlotte, Sonoma and Nashville, along with the exhibition All-Star Race, Kyle Larson was less than half a lap away from winning a fourth consecutive race at Pocono Raceway.

However, a flat tire as Larson went into the final corner sent him into the wall and handed the win to his Hendrick Motorsports teammate, Alex Bowman. Larson went on to win three straight races later in 2021 as well at the Charlotte Roval, Texas and Kansas, respectively, before Bowman once again snapped his streak with a win at Martinsville in the penultimate race of the season.

The good news for Larson? He capped a 10-win campaign by winning the 2021 title.

Christopher Bell, Las Vegas, March 2025

The most recent example on this list, Bell won at Atlanta, Circuit of the Americas and Phoenix in 2025, winning three of the first four races of the season just as Harvick did in 2018.

However, at Las Vegas in race 5, the No. 20 was off the pace. Bell finished 12th after qualifying 26th as Josh Berry scored his first career win.

Bell went on to make the next-to-last round of the playoffs, but failed to advance to the Championship 4 for a second straight season.
