Penguins complete historic comeback without Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin

Big comebacks are simply easier to come by with Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin  

But in addition to keeping Pittsburgh's postseason hopes alive and well with Sidney Crosby missing time after suffering an injury during the Olympics and Evgeni Malkin suspended for slashing Buffalo Sabres' Rasmus Dahlin, the win became historic in nature for the franchise. 

The Penguin's three-gaol comeback over Boston became Pittsburgh's first successful three-goal comeback with Crosby and Malkin both out of the lineup since 2001.

And that timeframe makes it the very first occurrence since Crosby and Malkin started playing together — the 2006-07 season — that the Penguins were able to come back after trailing by three or more goals in a game with both of their two legends missing in action at the same time.  

While it still won't be easy for the Penguins to continue to tread water in a jam-packed conference without Crosby — he's still expected to miss at least two more weeks with what's being labeled as a "lower-body" injury, winning in dramatic fashion with Malkin also unavailable shows Pittsburgh may have much more depth than they are given credit for, and most importantly, has a "never give up" mindset that could make them very dangerous throughout the spring.
